DEIRA WATERFRONT DUBAI
SOPHISTICATED DESIGN MEETS LUXURY WATERFRONT HAVEN.
ICD approached Creative Dialog to review the current visitor experience and wayfinding program based on numerous and ongoing complaints from both tenants and visitors, due to a lack of clarity and ability to find their way around the destination.
As always in these situations, we undertake a site wide, rigorous and detailed wayfinding audit, mapping all of the key visitor journeys across both vehicular and pedestrian traffic flows. What we found was a wayfinding and signage system that was ill conceived and in a state of disrepair.
Our task was to start from scratch and reimagine the visitor experience across the site, taking the needs and aspirations of both tenant and user into consideration while treating the site in a holistic way. The first step was to create a consistent and clearly articulated zoning approach and naming protocol that adopted the correct use of colour as well as developing a consistent and legible visual language for the whole site. The intent was to ensure that all wayfinding cues were clearly visible and legible and were underpinned by a well defined set of logical navigation principles.
In terms of our design, it was important to deliver a robust signage system that was fit for purpose both technically as well as from a materiality perspective. To achieve this, we paired anodised deep bronze formed aluminium signage structures with engineered concrete bases across a variety of sign types, where clarity of information was put to the forefront of the design.
