DAR WASL DUBAI
RE-IMAGINING ONCE OF THE CITY'S CULINARY HOT SPOTS.

How do you bring a defunct mixed use project back to life? Creative Dialog was approached to do just that with the brief being to re-imagine and to reconfigure the public realm approach to this F&B led mixed use destination.

With the primary objective of the strategy exercise being to re-imagine the front side public realm and to provide new possibilities, we went through numerous visual approaches in an effort to create the right mix of old and new for this Andalusian style destination.

Key elements included new screen shade structure, interactive light beacons, site signage, water features and sculpture pools, along with various approaches to street furniture, lighting and seating arrangements. Additional considerations also included digital mapping of the facade, advertising signage, bespoke LED lighting beacons and ground lighting effects, fire cages, digital interactions and the adoption of street art.

With the client taking a phased approach to the project upgrade, the new interiors have been completed which included the upgraded wayfinding and signage. With attention now turning to the exteriors, the first round of placemaking measures have been installed including the lighting beacons, sculpture pool, integrated street furniture, shade screening as well as interior and exterior wayfinding signage. While the project has moved back toward middle ground stylistically, the response to the upgrades have been welcomed by the client and visitors alike.
