AL KHAIL AVENUE MALL DUBAI A UNIQUE WAYFINDING DESIGN FOR THE CITY'S NEWEST MALL.
With a legacy wayfinding scheme already in place, and a project under serious delay and subsequent redesign, Creative Dialog was approached by Nakheel Retail to re-imagine the visitor experience strategy and along with it the overarching wayfinding approach for this large scale retail destination.
Having undertaken an in-depth peer review and based on client observations, it was clear that the existing scheme had several deficiencies both in terms of strategic application and style of the wayfinding system. With this in mind, we undertook a site wide navigation audit and developed a series of detailed visitor journeys to establish a clear visitor experience strategy that informed our wayfinding approach, ensuring that users will be connected to the destination across all key touch points from arrival to exit. This saw us developing a full suite of wayfinding signage items for the operational centre as well as the car parking facilities.
In terms of design, we took a scalable, modular approach that allows for multiple direction destination guidance set within a beautiful, crafted signage body that responds directly to the architectural language of the mall. Adopting a pared back, minimalist material and colour palette, our tapered wayfinding signage family is all about fine details and quality craftsmanship. A deep anodised bronze outer frame is paired with a white sign body and features brown black text and pictograms to ensure maximum legibility.
