NMQ by Melee Cairo Residential & Mixed-Use Wayfinding.

NMQ by Melee Egypt.

A future-forward wayfinding response for Egypt's most contemporary new mixed-use community.

Creative Dialog designed the wayfinding system for one of Egypt's most distinctive new mixed-use destinations.

Collaborating with the client team, we developed a bespoke X-frame signage typology that responds directly to the destination's strong geometric architecture — a light, see-through navigational system anchored on engineered concrete bases that reads almost as sculpture across the public realm.

Objective

NMQ by Melee is a groundbreaking new mixed-use destination in Egypt — a community that redefines modern living through contemporary architectural styling and an up-tempo lifestyle positioning that sets it apart from much of the region's residential stock. Designed by NAGA Architects, the development consists of a dynamic array of residential villas and apartments paired with co-working, co-living and retail spaces — a programme mix that signals a clearly future-forward register.

The contemporary architectural language and the ground-up greenfield nature of the development called for a wayfinding approach as distinctive as the destination itself. Creative Dialog was appointed to deliver a navigational system that would respond to the project's ethos, sit cleanly within the architectural vernacular, and serve a complex visitor and resident audience across the full public realm — from arrival through to every asset on the site

Our Approach

Creative Dialog approached the brief as an opportunity for a genuinely site-specific signage typology — recognising that the destination's distinctive architectural register would not be served by a conventional wayfinding kit. The goal was a signage family that picks up the geometric language of the buildings without overstating itself, while delivering clear, intuitive navigation across every touchpoint.

We responded directly to the strong geometric forms of NAGA Architects' design vernacular, letting the architectural language set the foundation for the signage typology.

We conceived the bespoke X-frame signage solution to encapsulate the destination — light, see-through, and visually distinctive while quietly performing its core navigation function.

We adopted a predominantly white signage palette to act as a clear highlight against the destination's distinctive black architectural tonality — giving the wayfinding genuine presence without colour competing for attention.

We grounded each sign on an engineered concrete base in austere, sculptural detailing, letting the structure read almost as a piece of public art across the public realm.

We extended the system to cover the full visitor journey from arrival through every key node — site identity, public realm wayfinding, park and green space rules, recreation facility information, street naming, exit strategy, and orientation mapping at key visitor nodes.

We delivered the complete toolkit ready for technical implementation and full-scope tender — site identity, retail wayfinding, car park signage, information kiosks and orientation maps documented for fabrication across the destination.

The Outcome

The completed wayfinding system delivers a navigational layer that genuinely belongs to NMQ — picking up the architectural geometry, contrasting cleanly against the black built environment, and reading as part of the design intent rather than applied on top of it. A bespoke X-frame typology, an austere sculptural base, and a complete site-wide kit of parts that supports residents, guests and visitors of all types in finding their way around the destination.
